Fighting for human rights since 2019.
About Us

The Team
A committed team of experienced senior leaders and energetic youth members. Our combined perspective brings new insight and fresh ideas, working together to make a hands-on difference for political prisoners and their families.
THE HISTORY OF GCRPPB

Welcome to our mission. In recognizing Bhutan’s journey toward a democratic, constitutional monarchy, we commend the nation’s strides in fostering a consolidated democracy over the past decade. However, despite these advancements, about 35 named political prisoners, labeled alternatively, persist in various prisons within Bhutan.
Following the exile of Nepali-speaking, Bhutanese citizens by the Bhutanese government in the late 1980s and early 1990s, in an attempt to ethnically homogenize Bhutan, over 100,000 Nepali-speaking, Bhutanese faced exile and statelessness. While many families have resettled across eight Western nations through third-country resettlement programs, others remain in impoverished refugee camps in Nepal – yearning for reunion with their loved ones who remain in Bhutan’s jails. Their struggle transcends geographical borders, making it increasingly challenging for them to find peace and stability.
Our Goal

To secure the release of all political prisoners in Bhutan.

To advocate for fair trials and due process.

To raise global awareness about the human rights situation.
