Ayushma Neopaney

Youth Coordinator

Ayushma Neopaney (she/her), a sophomore at Penn State University, is majoring in Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations and minoring in Crime, Law & Psychology. She was born in Khudunabari in Jhapa, Nepal but has resided in Pittsburgh since 2011. She has worked closely with the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh, having interned for them in 2020, and becoming a mentor for Nepali youth in Pittsburgh through BCAP’s after-school tutoring program since 2023. Ayushma’s dedication to human rights stems from her family’s history. As the daughter of Nepali refugees from Bhutan, Ayushma grew up hearing stories of her parent’s experiences and the broader conversation of the political climate in Bhutan. These narratives have led to her passion for advocating for the freedom and rights of individuals imprisoned for their roles during this time. Her personal commitment has allowed her to become an advocate for the Nepali political prisoners in Bhutan.
