Shrijana Timsina

Shrijana Timsina (she/her) is a second-year student at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy. She was born to Bhutanese-Nepali parents in the Beldangi camp in Jhapa, Nepal. Like hundreds of thousands of other Bhutanese refugees, Shrijana and her family immigrated to the United States in 2010 with support from UNHCR and IOM. Motivated by her background and a strong commitment to human rights, Shrijana aspires to have a career in advocacy. She is very grateful for the opportunity to work with GCRPPB on its mission to liberate Bhutanese political prisoners and reunite them with their families. Looking forward, Shrijana hopes to promote renewed diplomatic collaboration with the Bhutanese government to create safe pathways for the Bhutanese diaspora, both those resettled abroad and those still in refugee camps to visit their homeland, reconnect with family, and secure the right of return. Although this is her first experience with a campaign of this nature, she is eager to learn, contribute and give back to her community.
